Tec 50

Part three of the full PADI Tec Deep Diver program; Tec 50 picks up where the Tec 40 and 45 courses have left off.

Overview

PADI Tec 50 is part three of the full PADI Tec Deep Diver program and picks up where the Tec 40 and Tec 45 courses have left off. During this course you will extend your personal depth limit to 50m/165ft and show your competency as a Technical diver. You will now know how to confidently and competently make extended, accelerated decompression stops using up to two gases. Earning your Tec 50 certification opens the door to deeper diving expeditions.

Prerequisites

To enroll on a PADI Tec 50 course, you must:

Be certified as a PADI Tec 45 Diver (or equivalent)
Be over 18 years old
Have a minimum of 100 logged scuba dives, with at least 20 of those dives on EANX deeper than 18m/60ft and at least 15 of those dives deeper than 30m/100ft
Have been medically evaluated and cleared for diving by a physician within 12 months

Materials Required

You’ll need to have the Tec Deep Diver Crew-Pak which you have already been using for your Tec 40 and Tec 45 courses. The pack includes a manual, dive planning checklist and dive planning slate. The optional Equipment Set-up and Key Skills video on DVD is a great tool to help you practice at home in between your tec diving adventures.

Equipment Required

You’ll need full technical equipment plus two stage/decompression cylinders.

You may also use a technical sidemount set-up if you are already qualified to use sidemount configuration.

All required equipment is available at a very reasonable price for you to rent for the duration of your course.

What's Involved in the Course?

Your Tec 50 training consists of two knowledge development sections, three practical application sessions and four open water dives. You’ll build on what you have already learned in the Tec 40 and Tec 45 courses and focus primarily on mission planning and execution. You’ll also continue to learn to think like a technical diver and more about handling emergencies.
