Tec Basics
A distinctive specialty that bridges recreational diving to the world of technical diving, giving divers the opportunity to explore the basics of Tec diving.
Overview
The PADI Tec Basics course is a distinctive specialty that bridges recreational diving to the world of technical diving. It gives recreational divers the opportunity to explore the basics of tec diving, including learning basic skills and theory to prepare them to begin their tec diving training. At the discretion of your Instructor some of the skills can be credited towards the Tec 40 course.

Prerequisites
To enroll on a PADI Tec Basics course, you must:
Be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
Be over 18 years old
Materials Required
You’ll need to have the Tec Deep Diver Crew-Pak. The pack includes a manual, dive planning checklist and dive planning slate. You’ll continue to use the Tec Deep Diver Crew-Pak for Tec 40, Tec 45 and Tec 50 as well.

Equipment Required
You’ll start with your basic scuba equipment and begin to add technical equipment, so you’ll start to double up on equipment. You can dive backmounted or sidemounted (if you already have the training in sidemount configuration). All required equipment is available at a very reasonable price for you to rent for the duration of your course.
What's Involved in the Course?
The PADI Tec Basics course requires four dives and two practical classroom sessions and provides you with the knowledge and skills to start you on your journey of twinset diving. It goes through the differences between recreational and technical diving. Within this course you’ll get to learn about, and use, technical diving equipment along with associated procedures and skills, and begin to explore methods of gas planning. The course is run within recreational limits and as it uses segments from the Tec 40 course so you can continue on and achieve the full Tec 40 certification without having to repeat these segments again.

This means is that our training is performance-based, not time-based, so course prices are based on daily rates and your Instructor will discuss with you if additional training days are required.
