Tec Sidemount

Learn to handle multiple cylinders on a single dive. A great start to your technical diving experience.

Overview

The PADI Tec Sidemount Diver course is a great way to get started into technical diving. The skills you learn in this course will train you to handle multiple cylinders on a single dive. You can combine what you learn in the PADI Tec Sidemount Diver course with other open-circuit tec courses that you take, or certifications you’ve already earned, to take advantage of sidemount’s cylinder configuration and handling advantages. Your instructor may offer to integrate this course with the Tec 40, Tec 45 or Tec 50 courses.

Prerequisites

To enroll on a PADI Tec Sidemount course, you must:

Be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
Be certified as a PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent)
Be over 18 years old
Have logged 50 scuba dives, with at least 12 of those dives on EANX deeper than 18m/60ft and at least 6 of those dives deeper than 30m/100ft
Have been medically evaluated and cleared for diving by a physician within 12 months

Materials Required

You’ll need to have the PADI Sidemount and Tec Sidemount Diver manual.

Equipment Required

You’ll need full technical sidemount set-up.

Your Instructor will explain the gear required for your tec sidemount diving adventures and help you with what you need.

As sidemount harnesses need to be extensively customized we recommend that you buy your own harness.

What's Involved in the Course?

The Tec Sidemount course includes one confined water session and four open water dives where you’ll start with two tanks and add at least two more, maybe even getting to six sidemounted cylinders. During independent study and instructor-led review, you learn about the advantages of diving with a sidemount configuration and how to set up a tec sidemount harness.
